Just as with any vitamin or supplement regimen, a dietary addition for our horses is careful and delicate business. Too much can make the product less effective in cleaning your horse’s digestive system.
Anecdotally, ColiClenz™ Plus has proven to be successful if the full ration is fed over five days, in increasing quantities. However, if the horse is slow to finish the ration, it is recommended to withhold other feeds on days three, four and five, and extend the ration for another day or two if necessary.
Day | Amount | |
|---|---|---|
1 | 1lb | 2 cups |
2 | 2lb | 4 cups |
3 | 3lb | 6 cups |
4 | 4lb | 8 cups |
5 | 5lb | 10 cups |
Total | 15lbs | 30 cups |
This chart lists the amount of ColiClenz Plus Pellets to feed daily. Repeat this every ten weeks.
What to Avoid When Feeding ColiClenz:
Do not cut the ration in half
Do not feed half the portion on the final two days
Do not cut the ration thinking you are feeding too much psyllium seed husk
Do not assume the product will be effective if fed occasionally, or a few time throughout the year
The product is unique in its formulation and application. Make the most of the science in helping to avoid equine colic by feeding ColiClenz™ Plus properly!
Guidelines for Feeding ColiClenz™ Plus
The regimen is a total of fifteen pounds of ColiClenz™ Plus fed in increasing doses over a five-day period. Feeding the correct dose is important — too little, too regularly creates an eventual resistance to the useful properties of the psyllium husk, specifically its ability to become gelatinous and hygroscopic. In other words, the correct dosage will cause it to absorb molecules of water into the cell structure, which then turns into a jelly-like substance.
Feed as directed (1 lb. is equal to 2 cups):
Feeding levels:
Day 1: 1 lb.
Day 2: 2 lbs.
Day 3: 3 lbs.
Day 4: 4 lbs.
Day 5: 5 lbs.
What is Taking Place Over These Five Days?
Days 1-3: Research has shown this regimen to be the most effective in the preliminary work of removing heavy objects and sand from the gut.
Days 4-5: The final two days will remove excess toxins, bacteria, and other waste in the system by removing fluid and other substances from the gut.
With this feeding schedule, avoiding equine colic is much more successful.
Reintroduce ColiClenz™ Plus Every Ten Weeks
The treatment becomes less effective if the ColiClenz™ Plus is not reintroduced to the horse’s diet every ten weeks. This ration is supported by the research material relative to the process of metabolizing feed within the equine digestive system.
Monitor Your Horse’s Water Intake
All horse owners are aware of the importance of fresh water for their horses. When feeding ColiClenz™ Plus, it is extremely important to monitor your horse’s water intake.
Within the equine digestive system, the product absorbs fluids inside the gut, and this moisture converts the psyllium husk of raw material into gel. This will make the horse seek water more frequently. Ensure the horse has plenty of fresh, clean water available at all times. During the final two days of dosing, the horse will consume an even larger volume of water to replace the depleted water within his body.
Ensuring your horse is drinking plenty of fresh water at all times while administering the pellets will significantly improve the effectiveness of ColiClenz™ Plus.
